We have suspected for a while that Truett is allergic to peanuts. Yesterday definitely confirmed it for us!! He had a reaction a few months ago after eating a bite of peanut butter (swollen, red face and coughing) so we have been avoiding it since then and just figured we would get him tested in a few years...no biggie...until...
Yesterday he accidentally had a bite of a peanut butter cookie as we were leaving church. By the time we got home (about a 10 minute walk) we noticed he was coughing and his face was starting to swell and he had hives! Geoff called the emergency nurse and she said to hang up and call "999" immediately! (like our 911) So we did and 3 minutes later someone rang our doorbell and they were giving our sweet boy a shot! I then rode with T in the ambulance to the hospital and Geoff stayed behind with Brylie (they wouldn't let her ride). So we spent about 4 hours at the hospital where they gave him two other medicines...by last night he was feeling much better and we were finally discharged! It was a long and scary afternoon and needless to say we will be going to the allergist this week to get an epi pen and get him tested for other things as well!
Geoff was truly the "hero" of the day! He acted fast and was calm and in charge!
Our poor boy...his rash got worse while we were there and I can't imagine how much worse it would have been if he hadn't gotten any meds!!

When he was finally looking and feeling better he crashed. Then it was time to go! This was the comment section of our discharge papers - we thought it was funny :
"This young chap was brought in by Mum following an allergic reaction. The most likely item causing this event was a biscuit. He had previously had reaction to peanuts."

It is moments like these that I so wish we had a car that I could just put him in and be home in a few minutes! But no, I had to take him outside in the cold and rain and wait for the bus. Then the closest bus stop was still a 15 minute walk from our house...luckily Geoff and Brylie met us there and we all walked home together (T and I were worn out by then!). So about an hour after we were discharged we finally got home (the hospital is only about a mile away, but hard to walk it while holding T and no stroller, oh and rain!). Praise the Lord we are all home safe and sound!

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry for little Truitt and you all. Glad he is okay and got proper care.
OH MY GOODNESS! That is so scary. Bless your heart and his. Those pictures just about tore me up! Precious thing! I'm so glad yall are all ok. The discharge note is hilarious and so Brit. Stay away from the biscuits with PB! I'm sorry that he has that allergy. So hard but you'll be fine. What is up with the Smiths all going to the hospital in the last few weeks. Your poor mom and all her grandbabies having to be there!
SO glad the young chap is ok!! :) That rash looks awful- so sorry you guys went through that. It will be good to get the advice of an allergist and see if he's allergic to anything else, too!
Missing you all so much...wish you were here to go play!!
Oh WOW! So glad he's ok, but what a scary experience. I hear you about the wishing for a car. What a drag after such a long day... Praying that's the only thing he's allergic to and that he grows out of it quickly!!
Shelley - I just heard about your traumatic day last night at big and Nannie's OH MY GOODNESS, could we please keep our kiddos OUT of the ER!!!! SO glad you guys are home and healthy and able to get an epi pen for any future mishaps. Poor Truey :( So glad this is behind you. As always sad to not be able to run by and give everyone a hug after a day like that. Sending our love to you and your chaps ;).
Goodness! How scary all around! I am so glad that he is doing well and hopefully he is back in good health!
