Portugal/Spain

Geoff and I went to Portugal for the weekend for a much needed getaway without the kiddos! We love our children dearly, but a break every now and then does wonders and we can come back feeling refreshed and ready to take them on - ha! :) A huge thank you to Nannie again for watching them while we were away - I know it is no small feat! We feel incredibly blessed and thankful for these opportunities! Amazing to go away to another country just for the weekend! :)

We stayed at the Sheraton resort in the Algarve region (south Portugal). It was beautiful and I must have taken about a million pictures of everything, but I will try to limit them here! ;)

We flew into a little airport in Faro, then rented a car and drove another 30 minutes or so to our hotel...

In Faro

Driving in to the resort

I loved all the tile and mosaics!

I liked our tile headboard - creative! :)

View from our balcony

Friday was St. Martin's day and they celebrated in the lobby with some port wine and roasted chestnuts, yum!

Dinner was roasted rabbit...a first for Geoff - it was good! :)

Checking out the grounds!

Making fun of me after asking him to do a "fun" pose :)

Ahhhhh

Nice fishing spot.

Saw this on the rocks...wonder how Jim and Einette are doing these days? Ha!

All kinds of treasures could be found here...we joked that if Brylie was here she would spend hours collecting things! :)

This fountain was below our room and put us to sleep every night...

Lots of orange/clementine trees!!

Olive tree

Saturday we drove 2 hours to Seville, Spain for the day! This bridge is the border crossing...

Sangria!! (Once again making fun of me!) :)

Tapas! Bull tail, mushrooms and onions, and steak with plantains!

I have fond memories of Spain from college. I spent a summer here with a study abroad program through A&M and always wanted to come back for a visit! :)

Spain is so colorful!

Columbus sailed the ocean blue...:)

Pretty tiles

The bull ring (taken from the car as we drove by!)

Another fun dinner! This is what they served for a typical hors d'oeuvre.

Squid and prawn kabob and the biggest shrimp I've ever eaten!! They had some tiger prawns that were even bigger - like lobster! :)

We had a great time and now glad to be home and pack for our trip back to Texas this week!! :)
