If it's not Scottish it's crap!

(The title above is from an old SNL episode in case you weren't aware!) We are trying to take full advantage of our last summer here so we decided to take a little weekend trip to Scotland. We took the train from London to Edinburgh (4.5 hours) on Friday and came back Sunday night - just a quick trip! It was an adventure to have the kids with us this time, but we all had a fun getaway together and enjoyed seeing another beautiful area of the UK!

Heading out to the train station at Kings Cross

Ok, now this is Scotland! We finally made it after a long train journey with one seat for all four of us and packed into a train car with no A/C - it was hot!

Our apartment/hotel was at the bottom of this hill...we had just walked all the way up to find a place for dinner!

Brylie is funny these days - so particular about what she wears and her accessories :) She wanted to wear her sunglasses all day and put them up on her head like Mommy and Daddy do when they aren't in use :) And yes, I know Truey has his pacis but we just let him have them whenever he wanted during the trip - he really is doing most days without them and just has them for bedtime :)

Breakfast!

Wanting to be just like big sister!

That is Brylie down there running around while we waited to get on the bus.

We took a bus tour which was an excellent way to see the city! Truett and Brylie both napped for part of it so that was good :)

Edinburgh castle

The high street

Our driver told us that this dog became a Disney character but I had not heard of him?

Memorial

Calton Hill (national monuments)

This was funny...to us, a ragamuffin is someone who is not quite put together :)

From the top of the bus...view of the Palace of Holyrood. This is where the queen resides when she comes to visit and where all the royals were staying for the wedding so it was closed for the weekend.

I love the Scottish "Wee"

We actually didn't try either of these!

Found a lunch place with a kids menu! We then realized it was an American restaurant :)

The Royal Mile is the high street that runs from the castle to the palace.

This was a fun detour for the kids!

They had a craft afternoon going on and the kids joined in to make robots :)

She was so helpful and patient with Brylie and we were so glad we stopped in! Brylie wrote her own name in case you can't tell :)

The World's End Pub

Flat tire. We visited the bike store twice to take care of this!

This is where the royal wedding was taking place. I was as close as I could get and zoomed all the way in...still can't see much (the wedding was going on at the time). We decided we would rather look around the town than wait here for an hour or more to catch a glimpse of anyone! :)

Proof I was here too!

Truett slept during this dinner and Brylie had the best time with us feeling so grown up! :)

Sunday morning we waited for Brylie to ride this bungee type thing before boarding the train. We had seen it the day before and she couldn't wait to do it!!

Loved every minute :)

Lunch at the train station :) Truett wants to do every single thing that Brylie does in the exact same way she does it! We have to get them the same food, drinks, etc. or he will have a fit - such a copy cat these days!!

Heading back to London. This time we had A/C and seats for all! Much better!

So neat! Love getting to "travel" through your blog. Brandt is wearing that same olive green striped outfit today that Truett has on :-) yay for Walmart! :)
