Eastbourne

We packed up and went to Eastbourne for the weekend! It is a cute little seaside town in South England. It was actually the first time both kids have been to the ocean and it was so fun to watch Brylie's face running through the sand! :) It was still a little cold to actually get in the water and the beach was pretty rocky, but we enjoyed just walking around and taking in the scenery. We went to Drusillas park on Saturday which is an adventure park that has a small zoo. It was so great for Brylie and she loved it!! She even got to ride Thomas the train there! :)

It was fairly easy to take the train there (less than 2 hours) but I think we decided to limit our overnight trips with the kids :) It is quite a challenge to have an actual "vacation" while toting a 2 year old and 9 month old...which is why you don't ever see anyone else doing it!! I think we are going to stick with day trips for a while and if we do an overnight maybe just one night :) We will see...maybe as the kids get older it will get easier...oh, and we will also be getting hotel rooms in the future with a separate area for the bedroom so we don't all have to go to bed at the same time!

Other than the obvious logistics of traveling with small children, we really did enjoy getting away for the weekend together as a family :) We had a good time together and shared many laughs (including watching Daddy dance all over the sidewalk while trying to shoo away a bee!).

On the train ride home last night Truett had some gas/upset stomach/who knows what but he screamed (at the top of his lungs!!) for 30 minutes straight. People got up and went to sit in another car of the train...horrible...but all I cared about was getting this boy settled and ok! Once we got off he stopped and fell asleep. We still don't know what happened!! Poor guy! Needless to say, we were happy to get home safe and sound last night.

We woke up this morning and both kids had a fever. So after walking them to the doctor (in the rain) and walking to the drugstore to fill prescriptions for antibiotics they are now sleeping soundly and on the way to recovery! I guess this weekend just wore them out!

So here are a TON of pictures!!! :)

We checked into the hotel and walked down to the beach (just down the street) to check it out!

Friday night we ate at this restaurant - and yes, the fish and chips were delicious! :)

Waiting for the bus to take us to Drusillas park. Thank you Nanna for the cute Wimbledon tennis skirt - Brylie loved it and looked so cute in it all day! :)

Train station in Eastbourne

This was such a fun place and perfect for kids Brylie's age! :)

This was a little house with mice in it - cute :)

Stacey and Wyatt - Brylie wanted you to see these monkeys that had moustaches!!

Truett checking out the Meerkats

Mommy and baby monkey

Singing baboon - kind of weird, but the kids liked it!

Brylie, how does a flamingo stand? :)

I think this was against the rules, but she wanted to pet the goat :)

Thanks for being such a sport Geoff and being in so many pictures! :)

This was so fun to be able to get up close and personal with the lemurs!

They had a huge outdoor play area

The conductor let Brylie get in the front of Thomas the train. She grabbed the mic and yelled "all aboard!!!" :)

Thomas!!

This slide was so tall and Brylie had no fear climbing the steps all by herself and sliding down 6 times! :)

Cute little bus in the cafe

Enjoying lunch and showing off his teeth!

We found someone to take our picture :)

Grabbing a bite to eat and some energy drinks - T was after that Red Bull - ha!

Relaxing in the "lounge" of our 2 star hotel :)

Making faces

We pushed all the beds together to make a "family bed"! This hotel was funny - it was clean, but that is about it :) We knew this going in though...everything else was so expensive and this was not cheap either but our best option for a last minute trip :)

Standing in front of our hotel - view of the seafront and headed out to the beach!

Ready to go play!

LOVING every minute of it :)

We weren't planning on really getting in the water, but couldn't help it! So we had to go back for a quick change before dinner...

The restaurant Saturday night was 80's themed (Roxanne playing on the t.v. in the background). Check out the furniture! It was a steakhouse and our food was yummy! I had a rabbit burger :)

Tea time in our hotel room...luxury...;)

The one plus of the hotel was the full English breakfast each morning!

Beachy Head is in the background (and above). On the other side there is a white chalk cliff drop off (the highest in the U.K. I believe). I was a little nervous to take the kids all the way up there! So we just took pics from here. This is near the Grand Hotel which I would recommend to anyone going here - it looked very nice and it was a pretty area!

Action shot. Doesn't her face look so much more grown up than a few weeks ago?? Where is my tiny baby?

Singing to Truett in the mall. He loved it and kept laughing at her!

Pacifier safely clipped on!!! Before we left, we had lost ALL of his pacifiers. They do not sell these anywhere here (except online) and we did not have any to take with us!! I was freaking out because I knew it would not be a good thing...on the way to the train station Friday Brylie started screaming, "paci paci!" and there on the ground in front of the grocery store was a pacifier just like ours (and very possible could have been ours that we lost at some point in the last few weeks!!). How crazy is that??! God put it there and knew it would preserve our sanity for the weekend :)

Then, on Saturday we lost it again. We realized it was gone at the train station and since we had time to kill we retraced our steps back to the hotel and all the way down to beachy head. We found it on the steps there!! We were once again amazed and thankful! :)

So here he is with it clipped on for good!!

On the train to go home...before T's meltdown

I am loving the pictures - keep them coming! I can't believe how much Brylie and Truett have grown! Dylan grew an inch in the past 6 weeks - and about 3 inches since last Christmas...hard to believe that he is just about as tall as I am!
We miss you guys! Love to you all!
