So for today's edition of the blog, I (Geoff) will be providing the Woodbury update. Something about this post feels unsupervised and dangerous, but I promised Shelley I would be on my best behavior. So Truett Stebbins Woodbury was born this morning. He registered in at 7 lbs, 10 ozs. and 19.5 inches long. The birth and everything thereafter pretty much went as expected, though there was some tension afterward when Shelley and her mom decided to remove her IV by themselves (really?). The nurse came in, and once she found out did this overlaugh kind of thing which I guess was her way of showing displeasure (through laughter?). I wonder how that would evolve if we kept doing things that were out of line? Would it take a sudden turn into murder, or is there a limit? Someone needs to check with her family on this.
What else? Oh, so I have this need to ask everyone who walks in our room if they are here to do some unnecessary service that won't be covered by insurance. Is there a way to do this without offending the person? Why are hospitals so discreet about this? It would be like walking into a Starbucks and getting a bill three months later with a register fee, barista fee and sweet and low fee. No other business gets to hide their prices like this and it annoys me that I have to be worried about offending someone when it's their pricing that's screwey.
So here is an unrelated story, but I think it's a good lesson for Truett, so I'm going to tell it. The other day I was in a company cafeteria when this lady walked up to the cashier and said "my boss wants a pre-made salad" despite the fact that they have a salad bar, and they don't have pre-made salads. It was said in this tone that basically said "My boss is important and you should go find him or her a pre-made salad." I thought it was rude and wondered if I ever talked like that to people. So, Truett, here is my advice to you. Don't ever think you're more important than someone else, because you're not. Be kind to everyone regardless of who they are and what they can do for you. Remember that God is the only one that matters and you will be fine. We love you.

Great inaugural post, Geoff! I'm so happy for you and Shelley! What a beautiful addition to your family! I can't wait to meet Truett! BTW, you didn't say anything about what Brylie thought of the whole thing!
Give Shelley big kisses and hugs from me!
Love,
Amanda
